The Artist

I was born and raised in Ferrara, Italy, a city noted for its rich historical and artistic heritage.

After working as a sociologist and being involved with human rights movements, I felt the need to revisit my old love for dolls. I was pregnant with my daughter and began sculpting dolls: a double life production.

Dolls aren’t simple objects indeed, you can feel their presence. When I am having a coffee, in my kitchen, it happens I say “Hi” to the last doll head I made. Every time I create a doll, I try to capture a likeness of the human appearance. I want people to imagine that my dolls can feel emotions and feel emotions themselves.

I love creating “spaces” (using backdrops of panels, accessories etc.) that place the doll in a particular cultural - historical environment or echoes her theme.
My dolls, like people, are always unique pieces, never repeated.

I have participated in exhibitions in Italy, France and United States. Articles and images concerning my production appear regularly on famous magazines like “DOLLS”, “Contemporary Doll Collector” and "Doll Reader".
